The Business of Looking Good

We all love those poster girls with their glowing skin, accessories and fancy clothes. They all seem to look fabulous. What about those actresses and those public figures? I know right? They always appear as if they showered with pixie dust. Hey,What about those newscasters? Aahhh! don't even go there, totally hot right? They all look gorgeous so we start to get bothered, and we start thinking, "I want my dresses to fit so I need to burn belly fat... And oh, my make up kit... my skin... Aaargh!!! now what lotion, cream or oil or pomade is being advertised that'll keep my skin radiant and beautiful?, oh yeah... my shoes too. I need to look elegant on those heels"... and the list of worries starts to pile up.
However,  because of course we are all in this business of looking good, while we worry about the cover, we all tend to miss the core which is the internal body nourishment- our bodies,we worry about that magic portion that will make our skin glow but neglect how to nourish it from the inside. Ironically, We spend on all those slimming teas and still keep gorging on junk. We're so preoccupied with looking 'good' that we sometimes forget to look healthy.

I, Asake Balogun want to look like Selena Gomez (abi even Genevieve nnaji) but I forget that our genetic makeup is different so I start to diet hard, starve myself ,drink slimming tea,My Body mass index drops and my menstrual cycle starts to fluctuate but hey! its the business of looking good.We worry about keeping our nails attractive but not healthy, yes we splurge nail polish on and forget about actually caring for those nails. We are bothered about our skin so often we go to the mall to check out that new body cream our friend mentioned, yet refuse to hydrate that skin or even think about if that product would work for our skin type. So I say we start working towards looking good, feeling good and being good. We'll talk about our body what to do and not do and what body parts to pay attention to in other to actually look good. We want to profit from this business of looking good..so next time we'll start with that key body part; our beautiful face.

Six Reasons Why This Economic Recession May Actually Be Good For You!

Economic recession is BAD!! Of course, I mean who likes walking around with less money in their pocket or bank account, right?
Now having said that, a situation no matter how bad, has some upside to it. So let's take a second look at this economic crisis and see how it can actually work for you.
Six reasons why this economic recession is good for your health :

More Walking , Less Driving:
With less money to spend these days, you probably need to look for ways to cut down on expenses right? Then walk more.
Now,  unless you have arthritis, which you probably don't, this economic crisis provides you with an opportunity to walk more. A brisk walk for just 30 minutes at a stretch per day can do loads in improving your overall health (especially heart and lungs efficiency) says W. H. O. in their recommended daily minimum exercise. So if you have to go somewhere less than 45 minutes walk from where you are, then you should be thinking of walking down there instead of driving. By so doing, you gain three things:

1. You save money on fuel consumption
2. You improve your heart and lungs efficiency and
3. You probably will learn a short cut or two (use Google Maps)
Talk about killing 3 birds with a single stone throw, right?

There's still some more.
Another good thing you get from walking the distance is that you improve the strength and endurance of your leg muscles. This is particularly important for people who are office workers and who rarely get to walk around much. So try walking to your office, to a friend's house, to the local market, etc.

Reasons number 5 and 6 why this recession is a good thing?

LESS FOOD.

Another upside to this whole economic climate is that you get an opportunity to cut down on your consumption of food, especially the JUNK KIND. Food is good  (I LOVE TO EAT!!). But with less money to spend, save up by cutting out your junk food (both the expensive and low cost) if not totally, then at least most of it. You will be doing your pocket (and your body) a whole lot of good: especially since you probably have less time to hit the gym and work it out, with your boss cranking up the pressure to increase productivity.

This is also a great time to substitute your lunch for fruits, some of which are way less expensive anyway. Part if you work and walk alot, taking an exclusively fruits lunch is a great idea to stock up on the much needed vitamins that your body needs to maximise your exercising, repair itself, release stress and burn fat (yeah, vitamins help the body do all that).

So don't gloomy worrying like the rest of the world complaining about how the economy is run down and how things are not going great. That can only give you depression and hypertension (as of the situation is not bad enough already). Go to work, do the best you can and make the best of your situation to improve your health. So when the economy rebounds (as it is bound to do), you will have enough good health to enjoy all your work!!
There really is good in every bad situation!!

LADIES! FIVE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CARRY THIS ITEM IN YOUR PURSE.

Okay, So,  I know most of us ladies have that pretty tote where we keep all those beauty essentials that make us look polished and gleaming, and for those touch ups during the day, right? What will we do without our rescue tote?
So, today I decided to share this fashionably healthy (yes I mean it, beauty and health in one package) tip; HAND SANITIZER.
These are essential for any fashionable Lady out there. Here are some of the reasons why you should not leave the house without one.

1: Germs: Sanitizers reduce up to 90℅ of germs when properly used, hence it keeps those delicate hands of ours clean. This is essential especially for ladies because it sure helps protect the skin (particularly the face). Studies have shown that certain bacteria can be transferred through broken or damaged skin which might be through breakout spots or even the mucousa lining the eye.

2. Make Up: Ladies we know the quickest way to remove that extra eyeliner when we want to touch up our faces...yeah I know, our finger tips. How about when dabbing on powder, for those ladies that are not yet comfortable with the idea of powder brushes. They may want to use their palms or fingers for convenience, which afterwards would require them to wash their hands. However, the use of hand sanitizer in that process would ensure no germs are retained.

3. General Protection: A hand sanitizer protects you; Let us cast our minds back to the Ebola plague which recently rocked some African countries. Just imagine if Africans are regular users of hand sanitizers. Exactly my point! It would have definitely reduced the spread of the disease and even the amount of deaths in general.

4. Hand shakes: How many hands do you shake on average per day? Even without the fear of ebola, an average working person touches many things that have germs on them everyday at work, schools, malls etc. Plus, we find ourselves using our hands for plenty things we pay little attention to. From straightening your dress when standing up to touching money especially note currency, credit cards and all sorts brings our hands into contact with all sorts of germs that are potentially harmful.

5. Class: Yes, ladies it does show etiquette or class when before handling food or after brushing or touching up your makeup you use a sanitizer... uhmmm, that's one way to identify a lady who takes good care of herself and who is conscious of good hygiene.

The good news is that gone are the days when sanitizers oozed of alcohol. They now come in different makes and fragrances such as Lavender, Lemon, Ocean kiss and other floral feminine scents. Therefore, ladies next time you are in a shopping mall make sure you grab a tube or two of hand sanitizers and please keep it in that purse. Stay healthy, stay pretty!!!
